While surfing the net this morning, came across the news of 2014 Miss Unilag
getting a car (Toyota Matrix, worth over N2million) and mouthwatering
prizes while the best debater, which is a very tense activity to get
yourself in, was only rewarded with a laptop and N100,000.
This
disparity doesn’t really make sense, but then most academic contest
don’t come with big monies in Nigeria. The winner of 2014 Miss Unilag
was Damilare Babajide, 400 level student of Law while 2nd year Zainab
Olaitan studying Political science won the 2014 best debate.The debate contest was organised by UNILAG student affairs.
Clearly UNILAG celebrates Beauty over academic excellence…
