The registration data of registrants in 129 existing polling units in Ika South local government area of Delta State has been wiped out by virus. People who came out to collect their permanent voter’s cards were left disappointed as they could not gain access.

While speaking on the development, the President of Agbor Progressive Initiative, Mr Williams Eghebi alleged that:

“This is a calculated attempt to disenfranchise the people. It is unfortunate that majority of the people may not be able to register,” he said.

However, the Chief Public Affairs Officer of INEC in Delta State, Mr. Livy Unuibe allayed the fears of the people while also dismissing the insinuation of any hidden agenda.

“Because of that fresh registration will take place there. That arrangement has been concluded. Last week or so, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dame Gesila Khan paid an advocacy visit to the Dein of Agbor and the chiefs were there. We have already informed the royal father about the development. The corrupting of the system by virus was not man-made, so an entirely fresh registration will be carried out there”, Unuibe said.
