Amnesty International Report Not True- Nigerian Military

The Nigerian military have faulted the claims of Amnesty International that they got a 4-hour advanced warning of the school girls’ raid which took place last month in Chibok. The Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukolade said AI’s allegation is very “unfortunate and untrue”.
Stating that the Nigerian military received information of the on-going attack from troops on patrol, after which they attacked the terrorists and called for more reinforcement.

He said that as the troops on reinforcement made their way from Maiduguri to Chibok, they ran into an ambush by terrorists who engaged them in fierce fire fight and a number of soldiers lost their lives in the battle.
He also said another set of soldiers mobilized for the mission arrived after the terrorists had escaped due to a series of misleading information that slowed down the pursuit.

Emphasising that the Division Headquarters in Maiduguri received a reinforcement call and not a forewarning as speculated by Amnesty International.
