Ever since the "birth" of automobiles in the late 19th century and after introducing first motorized wagons which replaced animal-drafted carriages, reckless driving has been a major traffic problem. Moreover, careless drivers pose a threat to other people's lives, and this phenomenon is common in, perhaps, every country in the world.
It would seem that public transport drivers should be more cautious on the roads, as they are responsible not only for their own lives, but also for those of their passengers. But no..
.
For instance, this bus driver in Croatia was caught on camera red-handed: he was using two mobile phones and driving with his elbows at about 130 km/h (80mph)!
He reportedly replied with "Get lost!" when passengers expressed their concern with his dangerous actions.
The passengers of the bus, who were travelling between the southern town of Split to the capital Zagreb, say the driver explained he wanted to inform his friends via SMS that he had been 'stuck in traffic'.
After seeing the photos on the Internet, the owner of the bus company, Promet Makarska, told daily newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija the driver will now be sacked.
"There is no excuse, we are now preparing his papers, nothing can save him from getting sacked," he said.
Have you ever witnessed similar outrageous behaviour of Nigerian public transport drivers? What measures should, to your mind, be introduced to prevent such occurences?
